"Atonement" - Which should I do first: Read the book or watch the movie?

I am already at chapter 7, but somebody told me that I should watch
the movie before continuing any further because I'd "hate the movie if
I watch it after finishing the novel".

Agree or disagree? I own both the movie and the novel.
